Unit Electrical Engineering Ltd. manufactures a range of low voltage portable power cable couplers rated up to 1100 Volts AC and up to 320 Amperes.
Safety is very important when handling power cables and the couplers that connect them. The coupler system is designed to conform to Canadian, US and European standards. UEE couplers incorporate a pin arrangement in which the ground connection makes first and breaks last and the pilot connection makes last and breaks first. This ensures the power supply is not energized until the phase contacts make and the body of the coupler is connected to ground.
Production downtime, maintenance, and warehousing costs were primary concerns in the research and development of this product. UEE couplers are designed to be assembled in the field using standard hand tools and require minimal effort to connect and disconnect. Components are individually replaceable so inventory costs are minimized.

FEATURES & BENEFITS APPLICATION
- Rigid, sand-casted aluminum or brass housing makes the coupler light and durable.
- Individually replaceable parts minimize coupler inventory cost.
- O-rings, combined with V-ring and Square-ring, give the coupler assembly a submersible rating.
- A new generation of wire termination, a collet system (CollGrip)*, ensures a simple and secure connection with low current resistance and good heat transfer.
- Arrangement of phase connectors, ground connectors, and ground plate ensures that potential faults are phase-to-ground, not phase-to-phase, so the possibility of damaging high energy failures is reduced.
- Entrance fitting, consisting of a cable clamp and a seal arrangement, provides a waterproof and secure cable grip.
- Heavy duty pilot pin and socket ensure positive low resistance path for pilot signal.
- Optional second pilot or control pin allows for specific user application.
- All copper parts are silver-plated to increase conductivity and prevent conductor oxidation.
- All stainless steel hardware for long life and reliable assembly and disassembly.
